“Fulfilling a Promise and
Turning Poverty into Possibility”
Here's our story .... watch now
In 2015 we provided business training and start-up grants to half of the women in the Tanzanian village of Newlands. The 41 women (affectionately called Mamas) are doing well with sustainable businesses and have formed their own peer lending group. The other 40 women in the village are struggling for survival each day. We promised we would return.
And here’s what else we’re up to while there
- Deliver train-the-trainer sessions to 40 designated village representatives from the Kilimanjaro region (1 from each of 40 villages appointed by the tribal chief) and following the training provide arrange for them to have 30 participant handbooks to take back and provide training in their village.
- Finalize a partnership with Daraja Foundation and Learning for Life Foundation to establish a training ‘hub’ in Zanzibar and provide training to their trainers (some graduates from the OneLove program – full circle).
- Identify potential partners in both Tanzania and Kenya as we start rolling out our train-the-trainer curriculum throughout all of East Africa.
